String art has been a popular craft for over a hundred years, especially in the late 1960's and 70's when it was combined with psychedelic colours to create some very dazzling geometric patterns.

I could not find any examples of string art ever being crafted into resin, so here is my experiment using DMC Light Effects E980 thread to make a very striking pendant, which is bright yellow in daylight and glows like crazy under blacklight. The idea was to remove the pins after the resin had cured to leave the string magically suspended with no visible means of support.

Possibly the BEST ORIGINAL Resin technique of 2023

Hey my lovelies, In this video I am showing you how I used the Cling Film Technique in Epoxy Resin, to create the most amazing luxurious fabric effect within the resin. As I say in the video, this is my first attempt and whilst it did not turn out how I expected, my second attempt truly is not to be missed. My second attempt will be out Saturday.

This is my regular technique with alcohol inks but I'm showing you how I create the Fire Whisp as a 1st effect for you to try.

You can make refillable RESIN pens using Silicone Moulds I know these moulds have been popular and they do make great resin pens. Although it was disappointing that they are only one use pens. However, this experiment changes that. This video shows how you can make resin pens which you can refill with new ink refills without ever having to throw away your beautiful creations.

Interesting technique using an open-backed bezel and silicone putty to capture the shape of a found organic object like shells or flowers. What makes this interesting is that the bezel is part of the (created out of silicone putty) mould, so the resin sets inside the bezel itself, so you don't have to try to fit the item inside the bezel. Then when the resin is set, you can fill in the other side, so that it is smooth on both sides. Another interesting aspect is that one could make something semi-translucent instead of completely opaque, possibly dusting the surface with mica powder, and you could get interesting effects when the light shines through it.

This video explains the versatility of Langridge Dry Ground Pigments, and specific instructions for use in resin.

All colours are pure single pigment types with no blending. Langridge supplies traditional earth and historical colours from original sources as well as constantly researching and selecting modern pigments to satisfy artist demand for new colours of vibrancy and intensity.

This Resin Art Petri dish with Cool Effects is really fun to make. This uses normal alcohol inks, plus white alcohol ink which is what makes the interesting effects.

Nifty tips for mixing and using multiple shades of mica/glitter/colour in a resin piece. This is demonstrated on a pour painting, but it will work with jewellery casting etc.

Making a resin pendant with two sizes of copper tubing; one for the outside, and one to make a big hole (like a GoGo pendant) inside. Fill with resin, sand, polish.

Two-layer method for making faux opals out of resin and irridescent cellophane (mylar) glitter. The idea is to make the first layer clear, and put the cellophane glitter in that, then when that layer is set, make a second batch of resin, colour it, and pour it on top; this gives colour to the piece without obscuring the glitter (the bottom of the mould will be the front of the piece). This can be done for dark opals (using a dark background layer), and white opals (using pale glitter and white background).

Learn a classic jewelry technique known as cold casting. This class uses traditional resin techniques to make metal components that are perfect for drilling, riveting or other cold jewelry work. Debbi covers bronze casting, adding color, polishing and antiquing. The result is a wonderful assortment of components to use for your imaginative designs.

Make twisted curl rainbows using color film, resin and packing tape. The idea is to make your surface with the colour film, dome it with resin, let it cure until it is dry but still bendable (half the time it takes to cure hard) and then wrap the piece around a cylinder (like a pencil) and tape it down to hold it in place until it is fully cured. This uses colour film from little-windows.com, but I expect normal cellophane would work just as well. One could also use pretty (translucent) paper.

Lisa Pavelka demonstrates using Magic-Glos with open-backed settings. Here she creates a layered collage using a setting, Magic-Glos resin and a variety of components. Includes useful tips that I haven't seen elsewhere.

A very useful video on how to mix epoxy resin so that it is mixed thoroughly and won't have a lot of bubbles.

This tutorial shows how to take laser-cut wood disks and fill the holes in with coloured resin to make pretty coasters.

Coaster tutorial. Coaster mould + resin + transparency film + circle cutter = coaster! This tutorial adds a few interesting techniques to the repertoire: (laser) printing an image on transparency film, and cutting it out to the shape and size of the coaster using a circle cutter. If one doesn't have a colour laser printer, one could possibly print something out in black-and-white and colour it with sharpies.

Beach and shells resin coaster tutorial. What I like about this one is the way it has blue water at the edges of the sand. Because the sand-and-resin mixture is thick, it doesn't spread all over the bottom, thus enabling the making of the blue water parts.
