Set after "The Gift", with an unusual point-of-view -- and I like unusual points of view. When do you know that something is really irreplaceable? When you try to replace it.

sniff This angsty story is basically the Angel episode "I Will Remember You" from Willow's point of view. If you remember what happened there, you'll understand why this is angsty. Cast your mind back to a Willow still trying to get over Oz, a Willow who's Buffy's best friend... this is good.

"Serenity takes a load of colonists to their new home. Sounds easy right? This is Serenity, what do you think? (Crossover with Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan universe.)" -- story description

While the body of the story is rather coy in saying what it's crossed with, since one could consider it kind of a spoiler; yet since the index page didn't hide it, and also since the non-Firefly universe was what got me interested in reading this story in the first place (me having only ever seen one episode of Firefly and therefore not being all that into it) then I shall not apologise. The connection with Barrayar doesn't really become clear until the end, and when it does... well, ten points for a connection which makes sense in both universes, and indeed makes sense of something which was kind of a mystery. Though I guess one could quibble about tech levels and incompatibilities, but I don't feel like quibbling about this one.

The epilogue is a salute to the interconnectedness of all things, which sometimes occurs with delicious irony in the Vorkosigan universe. Not to mention getting Miles spot on.

I'm one of the few people around (so far as I can see) that actually liked the movie "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as well as the TV series, so I was real happy to see a story which features Pike so well. I'm not so familiar with the Angel characters, because my watching was pretty erratic after the first season, but I like the Wesley and the Cordelia here. This appears to have been written post-"The Gift" but before the opening of the next season -- or at least that's where this is set. I like this -- bouncing from snarky arguments to camaraderie and back again.

This is the sequel to "Fostering", which follows up from it, and weaves it into the season 7 Buffyverse. One might find the flashback/flashforward style a bit jerky but I didn't have any problems following it. Good stuff with Pike, Amanda, the Watcher's Council and a touch of Giles.
