Inventor, girl genius Tinker lives in a near-future Pittsburgh which now exists mostly in the land of the elves.
Thoughts
Yeah, it's a bit of a Mary-Sue, but I don't actually find Tinker annoying. Probably because she screws up, she makes mistakes, she has impure motives... she's okay.
I like the world-building too. Not magnificent world-building, but reasonably good, it tries to meld it's science and myth and magic together pretty well.
Bit of a bubblegum book, but worth reading again when one feels like a bubblegum book.
