Hayley's parents disappeared when she was a baby. Since then, she has been raised and homeschooled by her grandparents. Grandad is overworked and travels a lot; Grand ma is much too strict, and never lets her meet any children her own age. When Hayley does something wrong -- she is not quite sure what -- her grandmother packs her off to her aunts in Ireland.
I normally don't buy hardbacks, and while I resisted for a while, I finally gave in and got it. Pretty cover, which is a plus.
This is very DWJ: what with a lonely child of low self-esteem, and a sudden immersion into a huge confusing household, and a villain who justifies his villainy as "business"... But that doesn't mean that it's boring.
