Magician's Ward

When Mairelon made Kim his ward, he promised to teach her to be a lady and a magician. But magic proves to be harder than it looks, and being a lady is even harder.

Thoughts

Sequel to Mairelon the Magician, it carries on in a similar vein, with manners, mystery and magic. I like the magic system here; we aren't burdened with long boring treatises on magic (which one tended to get with "Master of the Five Magics") but we're given glimpses that do indicate that there is a system to it, with its own rules. Kim and Mairelon are still good, and I like Mairelon's mother.
