Avatars and Resemblances
An Avatar, in the context of fiction, is a character in a story who is the
recognisable embodiment of a character from some fannish universe (in this
case, Blake's 7)
There is a more complete list of Avatars at
http://hermit.org/blakes7/Merchant/Reviews-Book-Volume/Avatars.html
but here are some that I've liked and recognised:
- "Kill The Dead" by Tanith Lee (Avon and Vila)
- "Companions on the Road" by Tanith Lee (Avon and maybe Blake and Vila)
- You Have The Right To Remain Silent by Barbara Paul (Avon and maybe
Blake)
- "Brothers in Arms" by Lois McMaster Bujold (people say that one of the
supporting characters is like Avon, but I couldn't see it at all.
Doesn't really matter, though, I'd highly reccommend Lois McMaster Bujold's
Vorkosigan books anyway)
- These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer (Avon)
- Black Sheep by Georgette Heyer (The hero here reminds me of Avon,
though he isn't as bitter and sarcastic... just completely uncaring of
what other people think of him...)
